Five Lakes Via Ferrata on the Katrin near Bad Ischl
Five from one climb
Where in the Salzkammergut does the brave climber find the most beautiful panorama while climbing? And where is the via ferrata that offers so many views of the numerous Salzkammergut lakes? Where? Of course on one of the most beautiful excursion mountains in the region. The Katrin. The descent is then via a forest path down to the Katrin cable car mountain station or the mountain guesthouse.
With the cable car to the via ferrata
The Katrin cable car is an easy and comfortable way to get to this via ferrata.
On the way up, you get a first view of the impressive landscape and the picturesque little town on the river Traun. By the way, you can find all the important information about the Katrin cable car, such as travel times and prices, under "Information at a Glance".
Ascent to the lake view
From the mountain station, the access to the via ferrata, with the difficulty level "B/C", is a well signposted walk of about 40 minutes. Spectacular views and new perspectives of the Salzkammergut await the climbing enthusiast on the way to the Katrin summit cross. Once at the top, the breath-taking view of five of the numerous Salzkammergut lakes builds up. The Lake Hallstatt, Lake Wolfgang, the Nussensee, Schwarzensee, the Traunsee and sometimes even the Lake Fuschl. Lakes as far as the eye can see.
Finale on the Katrin
The way back, or rather descent follows a forest path back to the starting point of our climbing tour - to the Katrin cable car mountain station or the mountain guesthouse. After the approximately two-hour climbing tour, mountaineers can recharge their batteries here.
