The Ausseerland - Salzkammergut land of picture books
The Ausseerland
On the sixth day God was in a somewhat mischievous mood and, apart from creating all the normal human beings, he also created the prototypes of artists and those in the tourist industry. Unobserved by God, these conspired to lay out the Ausseerland region. God looked at this, finding it almost too beautiful in comparison with the rest of the world. But his day of rest was approaching and he let it be. So today we, too, can take pleasure in some amazingly beautiful countryside. The lakes at Grundlsee, Altaussee and Ödensee each discharge into a river called the Traun, which all meet in the gentle hollow of Bad Aussee.
Bad Aussee | Narzissen Bad Aussee: The newly built, health, spa and wellness resort, is situated in the middle of Austria’s breathtaking mountain and lake district, the Salzkammergut area. Altaussee | Salzwelten: The Altausee Salzwelten salt mines offers a mountain of treasures for the whole family and this all year round every Wednesday with a special evening tour starting at 19:00 hrs. Bad Mitterndorf | GrimmingTherme: Spending time in the GrimmingTherme means just enjoying, nothing to care about and savoring all offers. It is an exceptional place of relaxation surrounded by a fantastic alpine landscape. The Kammerhof (where the regional museum is located) is an important building of late Gothic architecture that was an official salt government seat until 1926. In the Loser Mountain area the High Rope Course provides a thrilling outdoor experience. A unique adrenaline rush with different rope courses, a climbing wall and a special incentive-area is expecting you. Lake Altaussee ranks amongst the scenically most beautiful lakes of the Salzkammergut. It is located at the foot of Loser Mountain and is set in a dreamlike mountain landscape.
