Only go when the weather is nice!
This hike is special because of it´s partly expodes trail. Schurefootedness, head of hights and experience in the alpine area as well as stable weather conditions are essential for this tour. Especially in early summer great care hast to be taken in order to cross the many snow fields safely.
From the Hofpürglhütte to the high Hochkesseleck ( 3 hours)
The hike beginns at the trail number 601 slightly downwards into the Karmulde and under the Steiglpass. Keep right to stay under the Gosaustein and cross the alpine pastures of the Rinderfeld then along the creek of the warm Mandling. here take the trail number 617 in direction Sulzenhals and Gasthaus Bachlalm.
Further we go at the Linzer Weg which was built in 1905 up to the Wandfuß and through the Reißgangschlucht up to the Reisgangscharte 1952m altitude.

From the hick Hochkesseleck to the Adamekhütte (2 1/2 hours)
Now the trail goes from the northeast shoulder of the Hochkesseleck downways on the right side to the Kar right underneath the Eiskarlspitz.
huge snowfields have to be crossed so great care has to be taken at that part of the hike.
Through the Kar further ahead to the Windlegerscharte and then to the Torsteineck. Further on we reach the Schneebergwand and later the Moränenrücken of the Gosau glacier. Over the steep rocks we go down to the Adamekhütte.
Many prominent figures have explored this region: nobles like Archduke Johann and Empress Elisabeth, scientists such as Friedrich Simony, poets and authors like Nikolaus Lenau, painters like Ferdinand Georg Waldmüller, musicians and composers such as Johannes Brahms. Did they ever think that hiking in the Salzkammergut might have no end? That they could tramp from one lake to the next and then onward to yet another? Day by day along the shores of crystal-clear waters? Week-long excursions through quiet valley forests, over sunny alpine meadows and up mountains fuelled by the anticipation of the next destination?
